St Dunstan’s Nursery and Reception Page
“Our teaching will inspire, motivate and challenge you”
We are a Catholic School in Kings Heath Birmingham with 1.5 form entry.
Children can join our Nursery in the September after their 3rd Birthday and our Reception in the September after their 4th Birthday.
Our children are supported and encouraged to reach their individual potential in a setting which embraces and recognises their uniqueness.
When your child becomes part of the St Dunstan’s family you can be confident that they will have an exceptional start to their educational journey.
In Nursery and Reception (The Foundation Stage) we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which encourages “Learning through play” – this facilitates the wonder and curiosity of children as they start their learning journey.
You can find further information about the statutory framework for the Early years Foundation State here and development matters for the EYFS (the principles on which it’s based) here.

We are delighted to be holding open mornings for Nursery and Reception children enrolling in September 2022 on the 9th December 2021.
We invite you and your child to spend some time in our school so you can see our wonderful facilities, meet our staff and ask any questions that you may have.

Meet Our Teachers
Working with Nursery children is magical. St Dunstan’s Nursery provides a homely environment which is safe, caring and inclusive.
At St Dunstan’s we understand that this first step into education can be daunting for parents and children which is why we work with families to ensure it’s a comfortable transition for everyone.
By encouraging their interest in learning they are ready for their school life ahead and progress through the years in St Dunstan’s and beyond.
Whilst many children progress from St Dunstan’s Nursery to Reception year, we do also welcome many new children to the school at this stage.
At this stage in the child’s learning journey the parent and carer are the key influencers in the child’s progress.
If you do have concerns or worries about your child we do welcome you to discuss them with the staff at St Dunstan’s, our early years staff work with you to ensure that you and your child have a positive experience in their first years of education.
Headteacher Mr Tehan
“We have high expectations and aspirations for all of our pupils and pupil behaviour is excellent. The successes that we celebrate are down to hard work, care and determination of our wonderful teaching and support staff and the close partnership between our parents and the school.”
Our Ofsted Rating
Quote from 2014 Ofsted
“This is a fully inclusive school where pupils’ differences are embraced. Pupils say, ‘It is okay to be different as we are all one team.’ Pupils behave well and show care and consideration to their peers.”
A quote direct from the Early Years Assessment
“Children behave well, are happy at school and are kept safe. All adults foster and promote children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Consequently, children develop confidence and self esteem. They are polite and take turns and show caring concern for each other. Parents are happy with the provision their children receive.”
